Over the course of the past few months I have learned a lot by starting this fashion blog. This is the first blog that I have ever written and I found it to be a good learning oexperience. I set out with some goals for myself when starting a blog all about fashion. I wanted to inspire others, to share my ideas and my love of fashion with people who were interested enough to read what I thought. I wanted to connect with people and give them a place where they can expand upon their own fashion sense. I would say I met those goals, everytime I wrote an entry I was proud of what I was putting out into the world. I felt like this was a very positive experience. I really enjoyed creating the content that I published. I find it is best to learn from hands-on experience and running my own blog was perfect for me to learn how to run websites and interact with people who enjoy your content. I was also really excited to write about every single topic that I chose. Looking back over all of my past entries I would have to say that writing about jeans was my favorite blog entry. I say this because jeans are my favorite piece of clothing to style. My most popular week was March 9th and I got 19 views. My most popular post was “Bottoms Up: Pants edition”. It got 5 views. I think this was my most popular entry since everyone wears pants and they are a staple item for everyone’s wardrobe. If anyone out there is really interested in a topic then I highly recommend creating a blog. Go for it! You have nothing to lose and it’s a super fun learning experience. This blog has given me confidence to share my opinions, ideas and my fashion thoughts with the world! It has been such a positive experience that I will carry with me as I continue my journey with mass communications and content creation
Say Yes to the Dress
Dresses are such a fun piece of clothing to wear. I enjoy dresses because they offer a wide range from extremely fancy and formal events like prom and weddings to very casual and every day looks. I love wearing dresses because they are very cute and for the most part very comfortable. I find dresses to be very easy to style, for example: say you have nothing to wear, you can just throw a short fit and flare dress on and complete the look with a pair of boots or sneakers for a day on the town.
Two of my favorite types of dress are fit and flair and baby doll. I find these types of dress to be really flattering and comfortable. I usually try to wear knee and above the knee length dresses. These are very youthful and great for parties, getting brunch, literally any occasion. V neck and tighter dress are perfect for going out to dinner or to the club. Dresses with patterns are wonderful because the look is basically complete and you didn’t have to lift a finger.
Dresses are super to accessorize as well. The accessories and shoes that you choose help to establish the vibe that you are going for. It basically sets the mood. T-shirt dresses are great for everyday wear and yet you still look put together. A-line style is another style of dress that deserves to be mentioned. These give off a very mature style. A-line dresses are also perfect if you have a job interview or important meeting.
Dress can be fun and flirty to professional and mature. It’s all up to you and how you choose to style your dresses. Dresses are a staple piece to have in your wardrobe and they are versatile so the possibilities are endless.
Thrifting is Fun!
Thrifting is one of my favorite activities. It is like a treasure hunt because you never know what you will find. The photos in this blog entry show clothes that I found while thrifting. I’m from Austin and so the thrift stores are really good here. There are lots of thrift stores to find and explore. There are chains like Goodwill, Savers, and the Salvation Army. They are also local shops, I usually go to both. Thrifting is a very affordable option when buying clothing items. And it is a fun activity in itself.
Tips for thriftings:
- It can take some time to go through all the allies. To keep me from getting bored I listen to music while I shop and look around. I find this to be a helpful tip because it makes the trip more enjoyable and it helps to keep you in a positive mood while you look through all the clothes.
- I love to go into the mens section. I find that they have more vintage sweaters and t-shirts than the woman’s sections.
- When thrifting I also keep an eye out for name brand items. These are rare but if you do find some on brand items then it saves youn a lot of money.
- I go through every single clothing item and go down the rows in order. This saves on time rather than going all around the store in no specific order. This also ensures that you won’t accidentally skip over anything and miss out.
What I like about thrifting is that it increases creativity with your wardrobe and puts you outside of your comfort zone. You can even alter the pieces you find to enhance it. For example you could sew patches, or make pants into shorts and even created crop tops. Another great thing about thrifting is that the stores carry every size. No one is excluded unlike some name brand stores like Brandy Melville which are known for only carying one size. Thrift shopping is also pretty affordable so you have room to be creative.
Getting Inspired
As a new fashion blogger I am always looking at other blogs as a way to get inspired and get more ideas for my own fashion sense. I look at other blogs to help me create and improve my own blog. Recently I stumbled upon a blog titled “Hello Fashion”. This Blog is written by Chrsine Andrew. She started this blog in December of 2011 to share her fashion tips and finds as well as other blog topics such as travel and beauty.
I enjoy this blog for many reasons. First is because the blog itself is very organized and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I look forward to going onto this blog because it is very pretty to look at as well as easy to navigate. The photos all have a similar color scheme and so everything is cohesive. Also the photos coralite with what the blog topic is about.
Another reason I like “Hello Fashion” is because of the content itself. Every blog post is very relevant and interesting. Andrew wrote a blog post about layering different kinds of necklaces and I found it to be very helpful and engaging. The topics of fashion that she chooses to write about are not boring and the posts are very useful when it comes to styling what you wear.
Chrinse Andrew doesn’t just focus on fashion though. She also covers topics on family, beauty, travel, home, and life in general. This is great because now the blog is well rounded and people who read it can learn how to improve on many things in their day to day life, not just fashion. However the main focus is fashion
Over all “Hello Fashion” is a very well written and aesthetically pleasing fashion blog. I was very inspired by Chrsine Andrew. And now I have ideas on how to run my fashion blog so thank you Christine!

Bottoms Up: Skirts Edition
Skirts! Let’s talk about them. One of my favorite types of bottoms are skirts. I find skirts to be amazing because just like pants, you can dress them up or down. You can wear a skirt in a casual way or for a fancy event. In this blog i will discuss my favorite kind of skirts.
My favorite different types of skirts include:
Jean skirts- Jeans skirts are super cute and casual. My favorite style of these are the skirts that have buttons going all the way down the middle of the front of the skirt. Jean skirts can be styled in so many ways. You can wear them with sneakers such as Converse, Doc Martin boots, Mary Janes, Birkenstoks, and even flats. Because denim skirts are pretty basic by themselves, then you can use accessories and shirts to create your own unique style. For example I love wearing sweaters, crop tops, and patterned shirts with my jean skirt.
Patterned skirts- Patterned skirts include polka dots, stripes, floral, plaid, grid, argyle, and gingham. Wearing these skirts is one of the most simple ways to make a boring outfit more exciting. Patterns are eye catching and do all the work for you. Now that you’re in a patterned skirt all you have to do is pair it with a solid color top and whatever shoes you desire.
Leather skirts- Leather skirts are very edgy and mature. These are great for a night out or for the club. I would pair a leather skirt with a pair of heels for a date night and for a cool fit wear it with a leather jacket. When wearing leather you are not just forced to wear black, you can go outside of your comfort zone and wear red, blue and even green leather skirts. The color all depends on you and what leather skirt you want to wear.
Tennis skirts- Tennis skirts aren’t just perfect for exercise or playing sports. These skirts are a very comfortable and casual option when deciding what outfit to wear. My favorite way to style tennis skirts is to throw on a sweatshirt, specifically my college sweatshirt and go to my 9:30 lecture. By wearing a tennis skirt, it makes it appear that you put a lot of effort into your outfit when in reality you just tossed it on in a couple minutes. This is because tennis skirts are effortlessly cute. I would pair this with a pair of cute white sneakers such as Adidas or Nikes and BOOM! I’m ready for my day as a TXST student.

I hope this list of my favorite skirts helped to inspire you guys when you are picking out what to wear. Good luck and remember just how fun Skirts can be!

Bottoms Up: Pants Edition
Since my blog is all about fashion and clothing, I wanted to discuss bottoms. More specifically Pants. Pants are great; they keep you warm and there are so many ways to style them. When you wear pants you can look like a million bucks. In this blog I will be discussing my favorite types of pants.
My favorite pants:
Jeans– One word I would use to describe jeans is ICONIC. Jeans are timeless and you can’t go wrong with a good pair of blue jeans. Personally my favorite way to style jeans is wearing high-waisted mom jeans and cuffing the bottoms of them. I usually pair jeans with a simple top or graphic T-shirt. Jeans are very versatile and you can change up how you style them. You can wear skinny jeans, bell bottoms, straight leg, bootcut, and high waisted. The list of styles goes on. I would also like to mention how different colors can change up a look. Black jeans are a perfect item to have in your closet because you can dress them up with heels for a night out, or simply pair them with a pair of converse or vans to keep it casual. Wearing colored jeans is also a fun thing to do. Such as wearing red, pink, or green. This is a way to add a pop of color and make the whole outfit less plain and boring.
Corduroy Pants- Corduroy pants. These types of pants give off a nice vintage vibe which is really in these days. Personally I own a one pair of red corduroy pants and one pair of tan corduroy pants. They are so comfortable and fashionable. Corduroy pants add texture and go well with fall weather because they keep you warm. Wearing corduroy pants with boots is a great pair for the fall weather.
Leggings- Leggings are not just for working out or relaxing at home. The nice thing about leggings is how comfortable and soft they are. You can style these in a athleisure way with a sports bra and jacket. Another way to style leggings especially in the winter time is to wear black boots with a flannel or a warm winter sweater. Leggings are often overlooked because of how basic they are. But in reality leggings are a great pair of pants and they are extremely easy to style.
Plaid Pants- Another one of my favorite kinds of pants are plaid or grid patterned pants. Wearing pants with a design is a great way to wear a simple yet cool outfit. The outfit would be simple because you can wear the patterned pants with a solid color top. Now you don’t have to stress over what kind of top to wear. The top combinations are endless because you could wear a tank top, long sleeved, V-neck, or even a basic t-shirt.The patterned plaid pants are the many focus points of the outfit. Patterned pants in my opinion also provide the outfit with an edge and makes for a hip and cool fit.
Those are my favorite types of pants and some ideas for how to style them. Hopefully this gives you all some inspiration when picking out what pair of pants to wear. Here is another blog post for even more ideas!

Accessories: Small Details Matter!
Lets talk accessories!
When talking about fashion the first thing that comes to my mind is accessories. Many people can overlook these small details that can actually complete the outfit. There are accessories like jewelry, belts, purses, or headpieces like hats.
Here’s a list of my go to accessories:
Jewelry:
- Rings: Rings are my favorite type of accessory. I wear many rings on my hands that are small and silver that complete my look for any event.
- Necklaces: Depending on the look, necklaces can change from simple and casual to eye catching. My daily, casual outfit would consist of a pair of denim jeans with a cute sweater or sweatshirt and I add two small silver chains to that add that spark. Something as little as a necklace can make an outfit really stand out. Necklaces are versatile so they can work for all events.
Belts:
Belts are great because they are fashionable and serve a purpose… holding up your pants!! My go to belt would be a classic thick, black belt. This is my go to because it fits perfectly with every outfit. It can give an outfit different styles like a modern look or retro look. What’s fun about belts is that you don’t always have to use a standard belt. You could use a chain or shoelace even to give the outfit a unique twist on the classic accessory.
Purses:
- Purses are cute because they can add a nice touch to your outfit because of how diverse they can be. I say diverse because they come in many different shapes, sizes, colors, and patterns. You can have something like a nice Michael Kors purse or a fun fanny pack or even a man satchel. I have many purses, but my favorite purse that will go with every outfit is my small black purse.
Although accessories are not the first thought when it comes to picking out what to wear, I believe that these small details can add a very unique and stylish approach to everything you wear. Marie Claire Magazine also wrote a fanatic article about accessories.

Getting to know me
Hi everyone! My name is Sophie Petrosky and I am a freshmen at Texas State Univeristy. I am a very outgoing and fun person who loves to hang out with my friends, drive around in my car, and listen to music! I am from Austin TX and I went to a fine arts acadmey high school where I majored in technical theatre. I love all things fashion especially streetwear. I chose fashion as my topic for my blog becuase I love how people can express themselves in how they dress. What I choose to wear is a big part in who I am and I wanted to create a blog to share my tips and ideas on all things fashion so that people can feel confident in themselves too. I hope to explore different ways to style streetwear and basic essentials that everyone has in their closet. I would also like to dive into thrifting and how to dress on a budget. Since I am a college student I for one know that fashion can be expesnive and I am always looking for ways to save money. My audience is mainly for high school and college kids. As I said before I am in college myself so I know more about how college kids dress rather than a middle aged adult. I want this page to be a fun and creative space where others can become inspired and try things out of their comfort zone. Fashion to me is supposed to be fun and freeing and that is how I want my audeince to feel when reading each post. In this blog I will write about all parts of fashion, from asseccories to fabrics to thrifting, to even my favorite outfits that I’ve worn.
